Michael Li - EST 2004

Hi! I am Michael, currently an undergrad student at UC Berkeley pursuing a simultaneous degree in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. I was born in Shanghai, moved to Montreal, went to High School in New Jersey, and now studying in California.

I enjoy designing optimized and automated systems, both on the software and hardware end. Many of my works involves developing software and hardware products and systems from scratch to finish. Dealing with obscure requirements, hitting tight timelines, and leading groups of engineers are all things I’m experienced at.

I’m currently an undergrad researcher at the UC Berkeley Sky Computing Lab. In the past, I’ve been a software engineering intern at Rivian and VW Group Technologies, a machine learning engineer at SomeIdea AI, and a software engineering intern focusing on algorithm design at KiDrone. I am also a part of Engineering Solutions at Berkeley, where I do consulting works for Tesla and other tech companies in the bay area. I also used to be an Battery R&D engineer at Formula Electric at Berkeley, where I worked on making a custom battery pack for electric racing cars.

When I’m away from screens, I love playing competitive ultimate frisbee, playing acoustic & electric guitar, handpan, doing freestyle snowboarding, hiking, and practicing pen & ink drawings.
